IOMP Presidents Message

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

In my capacity as IOMP President, it is with immense pleasure and great honor that I extend a warm welcome to all participants of the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP) and the 22nd South-East Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP), to be held from October 10th to 13th, 2024, at The Wembley - A St Giles Hotel, Penang, Malaysia. This congress provides a unique platform for clinical medical physicists, researchers, and students to converge, share knowledge, and advance the field of medical physics. I am confident that the scientific program, meticulously curated by the esteemed organizing committee, will be intellectually stimulating and will provide valuable insights into the latest developments in medical physics. The program includes an exciting lineup of keynote speakers, thought-provoking sessions, and interactive workshops that will cover a broad spectrum of topics, from cutting-edge research to practical applications in clinical settings. Additionally, the congresses will offer numerous opportunities for networking, fostering collaborations, and building lasting professional relationships.

The AOCMP and SEACOMP congresses are also about celebrating the community we have built. As medical physicists, we play a critical role in the healthcare ecosystem, and our collective efforts contribute significantly to patient care and safety. These congresses are a testament to our dedication, and they highlight the importance of our ongoing education and professional development. Let us use this platform to inspire each other, challenge ourselves, and push the boundaries of what we can achieve together.

Penang, with its rich cultural heritage, is a fitting venue for these congresses. Its blend of historical charm and modern dynamism mirrors the dual focus of our gatherings: honoring the legacy of our field while driving forward the innovations that will shape its future. The Wembley - A St Giles Hotel offers not only top-notch conference facilities but also a welcoming atmosphere that promises to make this event both productive and enjoyable.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organizing Chairpersons Prof. Chai-Hong Yeong and Dr. Jeannie Wong Hsiu Ding, the committees, sponsors, and all colleagues who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Your commitment and hard work are deeply appreciated and are key to the success of these congresses.

I look forward to a fruitful and enriching experience for all.

Warm regards,

John Damilakis, MSc, PhD, FIOMP, FIUPESM
